Avery (girl)

• I like the name Avery (girl) because it sounds so much like a surfer name
• beautiful and strong, trendy yet unique, Ava makes a sweet nick name
• I like this name because it is not too common, although it was used for a boy's name for quite a while. I think it is a pretty name, feminine-sounding, but yet strong.
• this was Fern's brother's name in "Charlotte's Web", which was - and probably still is! - my favorite book as a child. Through the years, though, I've decided it's a cool name for a girl.
• Avery Eden Quinn: Avery can be used as a boys or girls name and I think that is the appeal of the name, Eden reminds me of a mother earth type of person on the inside, and once again Quinn can be used as a masculine name but it says that my daughter is strong enough to carry it from a feminine perspective.
• Avery Layne: The two names both sound and look well together.  "Avery" is short, which keeps it from appearing or sounding overly pretentious as many "creative" names do. The name sounds distinguished and strong, as well as elegant. "Layne" is a short and simple compliment to "Avery", and it's unique spelling adds interest.
• Avery Paige: I love the name Avery Paige. It sounds to pretty, and has a modern twist to a classic name.
• Avery Sky: It has a sweet ring to it, and there's something very refreshing about it

This was originally an English form of a French surname stemming from the Germanic personal name Aelfric This is also where we get the name Aubrey. Aelfric is comprised of elements meaning "elf" and "power." Avery was sporadically used for girls starting in the early 20th century, but wasn't used with any regularity for girls until the 1980s with the rise of unisex surname-names. It may also have gained popularity as it was the name of Murphy Brown's mother on the eponymous sitcom.
